PEP-PAC Challenge - A Message from Dhimitri Nikolla, DO

Dear PACEP Member,
Even as a young emergency physician, political challenges to delivering quality emergency care already feel like the norm. From electronic prescribing to patient privacy, laws and regulations have a tremendous impact on our daily practice as emergency physicians. While some may choose to accept these political obstacles, we, as young emergency physicians, will have to circumnavigate these political issues for the rest of our careers.
It is natural to feel powerless against these amounting bureaucratic burdens; however, the Pennsylvania Emergency Physicians Political Action Committee (PEP-PAC) has provided me with a sense of political efficacy. PEP-PAC is a resource that has allowed our PACEP board to advocate for us and our patients. From opioids to psychiatric boarding, the PACEP board has successfully advocated for legislation that enhances emergency care and stopped legislation that impedes it.
The PACEP News page is filled with examples of PACEP advocacy wins. We cannot continue to successfully do this without the support of PEP-PAC. Donations from PEP-PAC create avenues for the PACEP board to pursue advocacy priorities that will shape the rest of our careers as Pennsylvania emergency physicians.
Please donate to PEP-PAC today!
