Annual PA Delegation to ACEP Council

Each year, the PACEP Board of Directors appoints PACEP members who will represent the chapter at the ACEP Council.

A councillor/alternate councillor is a key participant in the leadership and development of ACEP policy and has the responsibility to voice the concerns of their (Pennsylvania) constituents on the floor of the Council meeting and in reference committees. Councillors can also express the will of their constituents by voting for or against resolutions and electing board members and Council officers.

Councillors and alternates will be a part of PACEP’s resolution planning and writing efforts, discussion of and response to all other resolutions selected for review at the Council meeting, and onsite PA Delegation events.

PACEP Delegation to ACEP Council

Pennsylvania worked hard in Philadelphia. This year alone, our Pennsylvania chapter sent a delegation of 31 councillors to participate in the meeting. Of those 31 councillors, PACEP was allotted 18 voting members, and the remainder served as alternates. Our PACEP colleagues submitted six resolutions and co-sponsored an additional two resolutions out of 62 presented at the 2023 Council. The outcome of resolutions results in one of the following four actions: (a) adopted (with amendments), (b) referred to the Board, and (c) not adopted.

Below please find a list of Pennsylvania's resolutions and the actions taken by Council:

1. Opposing Sale-Leaseback Transactions by Health Systems (referred to the Board)
2. Addressing the Growing Epidemic of Pediatric Cannabis Exposure (adopted)
3. Addressing Pediatric Mental Health Boarding in Emergency Departments (adopted as amended)
4. Advocating for Increased Funding for EMS (not adopted)
5. Advocating for Sufficient Reimbursement for Emergency Physicians in Critical Access Hospitals and Rural Emergency Hospitals (adopted as amended)
6. In Memory of Michael Kleinman, DO (adopted)
7. Cooperation Between National ACEP and State Chapters (Co-Sponsored) (referred to the Board)
8. ACEP Financial Decision Transparency (Co-Sponsored) (adopted as amended)
