PACEP Delegation to ACEP Council

You Can Influence the Direction of ACEP!

Each year, ACEP's Council comes together to deliberate and establish policy to steer the ACEP Board of Directors.  There is representation from each of ACEP's 53 chartered chapters, its sections and related organizations/societies.  The PACEP Board of Directors identifies PACEP members to serve as councillors to represent the chapter at the annual Council meeting.

A councillor/alternate councillor is a key participant in the leadership and development of ACEP policy and has the responsibility to voice the concerns of their (Pennsylvania) constituents on the floor of the Council meeting and in reference committees. Councillors can also express the will of their constituents by voting for or against resolutions and electing board members and Council officers.

Councillors and alternates are part of PACEP’s resolution planning and writing efforts, discussion of and response to all other resolutions selected for review at the Council meeting, and onsite Council and PA delegation events. Board candidate interviews are also conducted by the delegation.
PACEP values the input of members at all professional levels and practice settings. This is how we ensure members across the state are represented and heard. In 2025, we were proud to have 10 new councillors in our delegation! We welcome your participation and input!

2025 PACEP Council Delegation

PACEP Delegation to ACEP Council

PACEP is actively involved in the Council! This year, our Pennsylvania chapter sent a delegation of 26 councilors to participate in the meeting, with 10 councilors participating for the first time! Of those councilors, PACEP is allotted 19 voting members, and the remainder serve as alternates which get substituted in throughout Council to ensure everyone participates in discussion and voting. Our PACEP colleagues submitted 5 resolutions, co-sponsored 1 resolution, and 7 memorial resolutions, plus 3 resolutions which were incorporated into the ACEP Board and Committee goals and objectives for the year ahead.
Below is a list of Pennsylvania's resolutions and the actions taken by the 2025 Council:
1. 33(25) Emergency Medicine Public Education- NOT ADOPTED (will revise and submit next year)
2. 43(25) Support for Eliminating Physician Non-Compete Clauses in Contracts- ADOPTED
3. 50(25) Emergency Department Staffing Transparency (co-sponsored)- ADOPTED as amended
4. 71(25) Maintenance of Malpractice Tail Coverage in the Setting of Employer Bankruptcy- ADOPTED as amended
5. 74(25) Necessary Facility-Provided Medications from Emergency Departments- ADOPTED as amended
6. 79(25) Standards for the Safe and Appropriate Transport of Patients to Psychiatric Facilities- ADOPTED as amended

Memorial resolutions:
7. 9(25) In Memory of Vinod K. Chettur, MD
8. 12(25) In Memory of Richard T. Hostelley, MD, FACEP
9. 15(25) In Memory of Lidio W. Medina, MD
10. 18(25) In Memory of Janice E. Reisinger, MBA, CAE
11. 19(25) In Memory of Ronald D. Stewart, MD, FACEP, FAEMS
12. 86(25) In Memory of Jack Henriquez, MD, FACEP
13. 87(25) In Memory of Carle S. Werne, MD

PACEP's participation in ACEP Council 2025 was a tremendous success because of our members. The deliberation of resolutions continues to enhance the quality of patient care, maintain physician wellness, protect reimbursements, and prevent scope of practice creep.

We need your ideas and we need your voice! We encourage anyone going to the ACEP Scientific Assembly to come out a few days earlier and join us for Council as a member of our PACEP delegation. Email exec@pacep.net to join the Pennsylvania delegation!
